About

Dennis

Greetings!

My name is Dennis Lantz. Welcome to my website.

People, books, and the natural world inspire me. Here is a long list of hobbies and activities that I enjoy, in addition to being an author and publisher. Reading, writing, exploring the natural world, woodcraft, gardening, winemaking, primitive living skills, genealogy, creating board games, science, self-healing, and self-reliance. These passions have shaped my life and my writing.

I believe that building and strengthening connections between our fellow earth inhabitants (human and other) is a key factor to happiness and success. With this in mind, I started The Healing Project (to help everyone fulfill their dreams) and the Library of Self-Reliance. I post articles about these and other topics in my newsletter, on MY HANDPRINT blog, and on Facebook.

Reading, writing, storytelling, and sharing ideas have always been my soul food. They give me joy and purpose. Over the course of my early life, I started several writing projects… but never made the time to finish any. After the turn of the century, I honed my skills as a smalltown news reporter and as an on-line news editor… but I still had not realized my dream of becoming a published author. In 2016, I noticed that my writing skills had diminished and decided to do something about it. I began writing Zander’s Tale as an exercise to improve my craft. Getting it published was not a priority. I just wanted to create a good story.

Suddenly, as if by divine providence, it all came together. After I finished Zander’s Tale in the spring of 2017, I kept on writing. In September 2020, Basil E. Bacorn Publishing published my first three novels. A year later, the second Pine Street book was published.

When BEB Publishing went out of business in 2022, I decided to take on the task of publishing my own books. In addition to Summer in Gentlewoods and Pine Street and the Mirrors of Freedom, it was necessary to republish my first four novels. All of that occurred in the spring of 2023. I could not have done any of it without my wife, Christy’s assistance.

I am the author of Zander’s Tale, The Spiders of Eden, and the Pine Street Trilogy. (Pine Street and the Mighty Mutation Circus, Pine Street and the Dino-Beast Clones, and Pine Street and the Mirrors of Freedom.) I also wrote and published Summer in Gentlewoods, a non-fiction account of the three-month period I spent living in a primitive, eight-by-twelve debris hut I called my hogan.

For the past two decades, I have been a general manager at a hardware store, helping other do-it-yourselfers and handy people.

Christy and I live in a small northeastern Pennsylvania town called Warren Center. We share our home with Austin- a Texas rescue who is a cross between a Jack Russell and an angel.
